Turffontein Racecourse will be a mecca of multiculturalism on Saturday, 25 April when it plays host to the third and final leg of the prestigious SA Triple Crown, the Wilgerbosdrift Triple Tiara as well as the much anticipated annual Intercontinental Village Day.
The day’s festivities
Racegoers should be prepared to have their taste buds do some of the racing – from continent to continent that is – as the traditional foods of a variety of countries will be sold at trackside stalls throughout the day. Each country will also be represented through an array of colourful crafts, costumes and live on-stage entertainment showcasing their traditional dance, making for a hugely festive day at the races. Last year SA’s Zulu Warrior dancers got the crowd off their chairs and will be back for another brilliant performance!
It’s a fun filled day for all including the little ones with not only the atmosphere of all the trackside stalls and music, but a mechanical bull, slides, a rock wall and a jumping castle all at their fingertips to ensure it’s a fun day out for all.
Racegoers will only enjoy the finest SA racing has to offer with the running of the Gr1 R2million SA Derby, Gr1 R2million President’s Champions Challenge, Gr 1 Wilgerbosdrift SA Oaks, Gr 1 R1million Computaform Sprint and the Gr1 R1million SA Nursery – a race card that will be stacked with top quality fields.
So get ready for an exciting day at Johannesburg’s premier racing destination and prepare for a day of great racing, food, entertainment, food, and culture!
Gates open at 11h00, entry and parking is FREE. For more information about the day call 011 681 1702.
