Mubtaahij wins against Year of Glory

South African racing trainer, Mike de Kock, celebrated his 150th win in Dubai last week.

New Year’s Victory

The Irish-bred racehorse, Mubtaahij, secured this victorious achievement when he won the opening 1600m maiden at Meydan on New Years Eve. The two-year-old colt, ridden by Dane O’Neill, cruised to the lead during the last 100m of the race to obtain a win against Year of Glory. Mubtaahij was one of only 2 juveniles among the 13 runners.

“He is a nice horse,” said De Kock. “It is never easy for a 2-year-old against their elders and we have to be very pleased with him.”

Home from home

De Kock refers to Dubai as his home away from home. He is the second-most successful trainer in the history of the Dubai Racing Carnival. Racing fans are expecting to celebrate many more of De Kock’s victories during this racing season.
