Manor D’Or, an extravagant stable yard in the heart of Kyalami, hosted a prestigious event in collaboration with Western Shoppe on 30 May. The indoor show jumping evening worked on an invitational basis. 15 top junior riders and 30 top adult riders were invited to compete, both classes over a 1.30m track. The invited riders were allowed to choose which horse they wanted to ride.

Tricky track

The track, built by Ryan Sander, was very technical and many horses and riders found the indoor environment to be challenging. There were some stops and rails down; a couple of the top riders endured an unfortunate fall, which proved the difficulty of the track. The overall show proved to be a learning curve for the riders as well as the spectators. Winners took home a generous amount of prize money and Western Shoppe vouchers. The junior first place prize money was R7000 and the adult first place was R10,000.

Well-organised and thoroughly enjoyed

The event was wonderfully organised by the Manor D’Or team. All the classes ran smoothly within the allocated times and the arena surface was beautifully prepared and re-raked during the interim. Manor D’Or had also organised delicious catering and beverage services which added to the prestigious feel of the event. The restricted number of spectators ensured that the grounds were not over-crowded so that the crowd could be comfortably accommodated. The overall event was thoroughly enjoyed by the attending equestrian community.
