The 1920’s in America were known as “The Roaring Twenties” commemorating a period of celebration after the war and became a period characterized mainly of opulence and prosperity. The Gatsby Polo event was inspired to remember these historical years.
Spectators may watch with excitement as top teams from Gauteng, Kwazulu Natal, Western Cape and the Free State will be competing against each other in true fashion.
The Gatsby Polo event would like to Party with a purpose by raising funds from the event, which will go towards Furthering Education and Training, a non-profit organisation to help underprivileged children and giving them an opportunity to pursue their goals in life. For more information on this, visit the Student Expo website: http://student-expo.com/
Official vehicle partners will showcase their luxury cars, which will be parked and displayed alongside the field for everyone to enjoy. To top it all off for the petrol heads, a Vintage Car show might be the highlight of the day!
During the day, a show stopping fashion show will host its top fashion partners who will showcase their latest, ready to wear designs. Models will be dressed in a modern inspiration, which was drawn from the fashion element of polo and its history. During the course of the day, we will be awarding prizes for the best dressed.
For the ladies, the Gatsby polo has arranged touch-up stations for their make-up. Even hair stylists will be available to treat guests to a truly spoilt experience.
All in all, the Gatsby Polo would like everyone to join for a day of stylish fashion, vintage cars, fast horses, glamorous girls, champagne and good food.
This is an event not to be missed!
Choose beautiful silks, chiffon or even laces. Fabrics should drape effortlessly around your body. Pick pieces with soft details, such as cascading ruffles, sequined accents, beads and even bows. Fringes topped with faux fur stoles or jackets are fashionable too. Go all out with gloves, and anything beaded. Look out for fans or shell motifs, which you can definitely find in thrift stores. Alternatively go with statement pieces like a sparkling necklace, or rhinestone earrings. Large glittering headpieces are a must to pull the 1920s look together. If it’s too out there for you, go with sparkling bobby pins or hair combs. Just remember to slick your hair back, for a glamorous look.
Pull off a classically styled tuxedo with peak lapels, a single button, piped pockets, and no vents. The vest, if one is worn, is cut low, with no more than four buttons, to expose as much shirtfront as possible. Gatsby’s tux on the other hand, has three buttons, flapped pockets, side vents, and gauntlet cuffs. His vest is cut high, with five buttons. Alternatively a white suit in linen will give you the ultimate Gatsby look, or go for a modernized Gatsby look with a hot pink suit.
